take action
Students translate their ideas, concerns, and findings into appropriate and responsible individual or collaborative actions to improve conditions
Subpoint 3:
Act, individually or collaboratively, in creative and responsible ways to contribute to improvement locally, regionally, and/or globally, and assess the impact of the action.
Every Saturday morning from 8:30 to noon, I volunteer at the Indian Doctors Charity Clinic. It is a clinic for people who cannot afford medical insurance. The clinic is run by three nurses, a committee of Indian physicians, and high school volunteers. I am contributing to the society by committing my time in helping people who do not have the financial resources to help themselves. I mainly help by filing charts, calling in patients, faxing lab reports off to labs, and just overall helping the clinic run smoothly. If I decide to go into the medical field, I will go in with prior knowledge from my time at the clinic, and I hope that if I become a doctor, I will come back and spend my Saturday mornings here at the IDC.

A couple weeks ago, the Sharpstown Neighborhood Commitee put up flyers asking residents to help clean up around the neighborhood. My dad and I helped clean up on our street and in the park. I chose to use this event for this subpoint because it's important for us to keep our environment and our community clean for our future generations.
